Adderstone Group completed the purchase of the site of Buzz Bingo and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne in Winter 2018.
The acquisition comprised two purpose-built buildings across the 3.1 acre site which was developed in 2003.

Heaton Bingo is now located in Elim Pentecostal Church after what has be described as a very uncommon move. The bingo hall and the church swapped premises after both owners agreed that the swap would be a good idea as the church’s congregation was growing, whilst over the years numbers had fallen off at the bingo.
The building stood empty and unused for many years, as a bingo club licence was applied for, and refused. In 1982, it was gutted internally and converted into a supermarket, known as the Byker Superstore. This was a short lived venture, and it was closed and the building was demolished in early-1987. A Shell petrol station was built on the site. The first building provides a 33,300 sq. ft. (3,093 sq. m.) bingo hall occupied by Buzz Bingo (formerly Gala Bingo and owned by Gala Leisure Limited) and the second a separate 2,528 sq. ft (234 sq. m) fast food drive-thru restaurant occupied by KFC.
The Gala unit is set over ground and part mezzanine floors and comprises a large open plan bingo hall, gambling / slot machine area, reception, restaurant and bar, as well as staff office accommodation.
It is one of the largest Gala Bingo halls in the North East and provides a 1,500 seat capacity. The unit currently has 10,000 registered members.
The KFC restaurant benefits from excellent road frontage onto one of the major arterial routes into Newcastle city centre.
There are excellent car parking provisions on site with enough space for up to 250 vehicles.
Byker Lodge
Our dementia service provides short term, 24-hour support for people experiencing a crisis or coming out of hospital. The service aims to enable people to return home, with appropriate support, as soon as possible.
The accommodation is designed to support and encourage people's independence. It covers 3 floors and includes:

On admission your will take part in a needs assessment and a personal care plan. We will request a patient summary from your GP so that we can check your medication and any medical issues can be addressed.
Our friendly staff are patient, dedicated, resourceful professionals who are caring, hardworking and reliable and their criminal records have been checked.
If Byker is not where you live, we will register you our local GP practice whilst you are with us.

- we can order a repeat prescription for you and have this dispensed by our local pharmacy

What to bring for your stay
Where possible, please bring with you:
- enough clothes for your stay clearly marked with your name. We offer a laundry service but if you prefer your relatives or carers to manage your washing, please inform a member of staff on arrival.
- toiletries / personal hygiene products. If you use effervescent tablets, such as Steradent denture cleaner, we have to keep them in a locked cupboard. You may prefer to bring a toothbrush and toothpaste.
- a small amount of money for social outings, taxi fares, personal expenses, hairdresser, or newspapers. This should be secured in our safe, otherwise we cannot accept any responsibility for any losses.
